Justin will be accompanying current theatre students in a cabaret on Sunday, as well as theatre alum and Joseph Jefferson award winner Jonathan Butler-Duplessis on Monday as part of the celebration of the UIUC Department of Theatre's 50th anniversary.
Associate Professor and Associate Head Tom Mitchell is spearheading efforts to mark 50 years of Illinois Theatre. Alumni and other friends of Illinois Theatre are invited to a weekend celebration of our past, present, and future. Highlighting our five decades of innovative teaching and production, as well as our efforts to diversify U.S. stages, we will include a wide variety of events. On Saturday we will hold a welcome reception and special performance of Twelfth Night. On Sunday there will be Pecha Kucha-style autobiographies about how alumni have used their Illinois Theatre degrees, tours, reception, and an evening cabaret from current students. Then join us for alumni-led classes and workshops and a late afternoon mini-performance featuring alumni work on Monday. An exhibit of alumni design, tech, and management projects will be open throughout the event.
